Zeolyst International to Lead the Commercial Deployment of Rive’s Molecular Highway™ Zeolite Technology in Hydrocracking Catalyst Applications
March 24, 2014 — PRINCETON, NJ — Rive Technology and Zeolyst International announced today that they have entered into a Joint Development Agreement to further develop, manufacture, and market hydrocracking catalysts within the petroleum refining sector.
This Joint Development Agreement combines Rive’s recognized capabilities as a provider of innovative materials-based solutions for catalytic and separations processes in the petroleum refining, chemicals, water, and biofuels industries with Zeolyst International’s leadership in hydrocracking, world class product development, and state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities capable of supplying a global market.
“Zeolyst International and its hydrocracking partners Criterion and Shell Global Solutions’ experience and global reach will enable our firms to quickly deploy Rive’s technology in the hydrocracking market” said David Aldous, Chief Executive Officer of Rive Technology. “Together, we will deliver unmatched hydrocracking catalyst performance to allow our customers to maximize production of desired products such as diesel.”
Rive’s proprietary Molecular Highway™ technology makes zeolite refining catalysts more accessible to hydrocarbon molecules, resulting in increased yields of transportation fuels such as diesel. Refiners profit from the enhanced catalytic performance by improving refinery-wide operating flexibility, increasing throughput, processing heavier crude oil, and maximizing production of high quality fuels. Molecular Highway technology is already commercially-proven in fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) applications.
“Rive brings technology that has been utilized in FCC applications and we fully expect to see similar benefits in hydrocracking applications.” said Robert Trout, President of Criterion Catalysts & Technologies and board member of Zeolyst International.
“The Rive Technology and Zeolyst International product development groups have teamed up to evaluate the technology potential and are now working diligently to deliver a family of differentiated hydrocracking catalysts to the market,” said John Lau, President Catalyst Group (including ZI) for PQ Corporation.
